The Farewell Show came across much smoother than rehearsal (phew!), and the students all did a great job. As a chance to showcase their Japanese skills and other talents (music, poetry, drawing, calligraphy), everyone did incredible!
After the show(case, if you will), students received their certificates of completion, and they deserve it! They have done a great job over these 5 weeks, and worked very hard to improve their Japanese abilities!
We then headed from the auditorium to the Cafe, where first we feasted and gathered for a final time with our new family and friends.
The evening, of course, had to turn a bit emotional. First, we had three students read aloud (in front of everyone) letters to their host families. After that, the rest of the students pulled out letters to give to their host families. Students read letters to their family, and quite a few tears were wiped away.
Following that, the Osaka High School supporters gathered the exchange students together and surprised them with a photo keepsake that just broke a few of us down!
Saying goodbye was not easy, and I am sure we finished more than an hour later than expected.
